Meet the Team
Proper Hills makes power banks, speakers, chargers, and trackers, and we're particular about how. We started in 2022 and have been building the line out since. The team is based in North Carolina, with engineers and designers working remotely across the country.
At Proper Hills, our mission is to develop innovative technology products that seamlessly enhance your daily routine. Every order ships in recycled paper packaging, and we've reduced the plastic inside the box since we started — electronics shouldn't arrive wrapped in something that outlasts them.
President
North Carolina
Martella spent years running manufacturing overseas before starting Proper Hills, which means he knows what a spec sheet actually costs to build. He sets product direction and stays close to the factory relationships. At home he's with his family of five, two dogs, and a cat named Penelope, and he plays beach volleyball with his dad whenever he can.
VP of Product Development
Remote — Rhode Island
Dana started out in interior design in Paris and brought that eye to consumer hardware, where she shapes how every Proper Hills product looks and feels in the hand. She thinks about flow and placement as much as form, and it shows in the details. Outside work she's usually outdoors, and she lives in Rhode Island with her fiancé Robert and their dog Teddy.
Product Development Director
Remote — Georgia
Jimothy runs product development, shepherding each product from concept through to the version that actually ships. He plays piano and is in a band, makes it out to Burning Man, and lives with a cat named Tony who is convincingly tiger-shaped.
Creative Director / Senior Designer
North Carolina
Nick leads creative and design for Proper Hills, and he's the quietest person here and the hardest to get to stop working — Martella has given up trying. He lives in North Carolina with his family of three and grows an ambitious amount of vegetables.
Product Development / Sourcing Coordinator
Hong Kong / Remote
Lauren coordinates sourcing and product development, splitting her time between the States and Hong Kong so she's close to the factories. She's a CrossFit regular and travels relentlessly, usually with her cat, who has more stamps in the passport than most people.
Key Account Manager
North Carolina
Jennifer came to Proper Hills from private sales groups around the country, where she learned how to read a buyer fast. She manages the big box and national retail accounts and keeps them moving. At home in North Carolina she sews, and gives most of her spare time to her plants and her garden.
Wholesale Account Manager
Remote — California
Theo looks after Proper Hills' independent and specialty retailers — the smaller stores, where the relationship matters as much as the order. He's based in California with his son Timmy, and gets out deep sea fishing whenever he can.
Business Development / Sales Manager
Remote — Washington
Luigi opens new doors for Proper Hills — new channels, new partners, new markets. He's an avid marathon runner and travels for races constantly, which suits a job that's half airport anyway. The rest of his weekends are spent talking friends into karaoke.
Marketing & E-Commerce Manager
Remote — Charleston, SC
Tiffany runs marketing and the online store, which means she owns most of how Proper Hills shows up to customers. She graduated from Maryland five years ago and now lives in Charleston, where she fishes and crabs. She's also aunt to four nephews and one new niece, a job she takes seriously.
Graphic Designer / Content Designer
Remote — Hawaii
Paul handles graphics and content, from packaging to everything you see on the site. He lives in Hawaii with his wife Maddie and their two dogs, and spends most of his free time playing music with whoever's around.
Operations / Supply Chain Manager
Remote — Colorado
Georgina keeps the supply chain moving, from purchase order to pallet. She was born in Hong Kong and still goes back regularly to see family and walk the factory floors, which is worth more than any status report. She lives in Colorado and spends her weekends biking and hiking.
Operations / Customer Service Coordinator
Remote — New York, NY
Leah handles customer service and day-to-day operations, and is usually the person who answers when you write in. She's originally from Ohio, got married last year, and moved to New York — but her Buckeyes loyalty made the trip with her.
Controller / Finance & Administration Manager
North Carolina
Kathy runs finance and administration, and keeps the rest of the company honest about deadlines. She and Martella have known each other since high school, which is why she gets away with it. She has ten grandchildren, starts every morning with a five-mile run, and will tell you the sunrise is the best part.
