The game originally comes from Japan and was used as a meditative and entertaining pastime. In the USA it is now made from sustainably grown woods, e.g. black walnut, hard maple, cherry, cedar, oak, sassafras, poplar, hickory, milk orange and pear. Each block of wood is finely sanded by hand and finished with jojoba oil and beeswax. 100% organic and non-toxic.
